This painting gives me the feeling of the mood that the play "A Streetcar Named Desire" gives off. The painting has the colors of Mardi Gras a little, but it also has this sense of chaos to it that you find in the mixture of the characters in this play. The movement of the lines gives me the feeling of Blanche going crazy when Stanley wouldn't let her out the door and when Stanley cleared his plate by throwing it at the wall. But at the same time i get a sense of order in this painting which you can also find in the play, like when Mitch and Blanche talk for the first time during the poker game or when they are on their date. I think this painting compliments the play more then a Jackson Pollack because it uses color in a more interesting way and has more of a sense or order to it.
